So I finally made it down to Social Security this week and got my name changed. I kept K as my middle name (just like my mom did with her maiden name) so I have an ultra-long name overall - 22 letter and a hyphen! whew! But I just couldn't bear to part with any of it. I've been JL for so long now - in fact, my college friend Rebecca ONLY calls me JL, which I like! - that it felt weird to part with it. And with no boys to pass it on, I had to keep my maiden name for Dad.
On the to-do list today:
-call Salvation Army for a pick up.
DONE: they won't pick up b/c I don't have enough stuff!! argh!!
-put the office back together.
DONE! Only took the extended length "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" to accomplish....
-take pictures for the blog (I know, it's been THREE long weeks since you saw my awesome belly).
-go through magazines and trash what I don't want (yes, I am one of those geeks who saves all her magazines. I've gotten much better, I try to do this once a year now, and I've cut WAY back on the amount of magazines that come into this house. Now I only get Real Simple, I cut out Martha Stewart Living, and NatGeo Adventure in the past six months; but I still horde catalogs that come in, and being a union teacher, I get another three publications a month, plus a multitude of other language-educator magazines form various organizations to which I belong).
-grocery shopping (at least to get through the next four days)
DONE. and I was able to get to the library and the drycleaners, too!
-make dinner. We stopped at the Highland farmer's market yesterday and got some great raspberries, currants, beets, and kalamata olive bread. I LOVE beets, so I need to leave myself time to roast those suckers today.
-play around with the SLR and make a flash diffuser for it. I haven't touched the thing since I got pregnant, save one rugby game this spring. :-(
-PACK HOSPITAL BAG. crazy, I must be in denial, because I am not feeling the nesting that is supposed to be surging through my body. And my usual OCD personality seems to be on vacation.... because my brain has read the books that say I can expect to go into labor at any moment, but my body is in surfer-dude mode, saying, "we have PLENTY of time, just chill!"
Another plus to the week - the XBOX is fixed, so Gian and I have enjoyed rockin' out every night instead of flipping through the channels to find some mindless program to watch. My favorite of the week: we got to do "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi in a mystery song set. Fabulous!

I didn't know you were a mommablogger! Now I'll be a regular reader. I did the same thing with my maiden name, made it a second middle name. I guess I wanted to hold on to that part of my identity.
